It’s almost weekend, and like many of us, you probably have a few rules of thumb that you live by. One is probably that you don’t call and invite anyone out after a certain part of the week, say Wednesday. Well, here it is, almost weekend, and you either haven’t been asked out or haven’t made that call yet.

Don’t despair. Sometimes rules, and especially rules of thumb, are made to be broken. If you wanted to call but forgot, go ahead and make a call, but be flexible, if she’s already got plans for the weekend, you can always score points by planning towards the next weekend. And if you get any invitations, why not consider taking them? Spur of the moment things and get togethers are also great, and especially for us singles, we control our schedules and can go and do as we please at the drop of a hat. Because you can, don’t let silly little preconceived rules get in the way. Enjoy yourself!

And guys. If you have a girl in mind, but didn’t call already… what’s wrong with you? Nervous? Perhaps knowing a little more about how to use the powers you already posses towards attracting women would be a good thing. Invest a little in yourself and try one of the online courses about dating. This one is a great little course!

You’ve just endured the holidays, Thanksgiving - alone. Or maybe you were taken to see your lover’s parents. Maybe you have no one. Regardless, at this time of year when you’ve probably spent a considerable amount of time by yourself over this long weekend, you sometimes hear that little voice in the back of your head question whether you can go on living a single life without someone special there for you waiting at home every day.

Think that being married would be better?

Are you that needy? Do you always need to be around others? Are you good at spending time with yourself? Truth be told, if you can’t be alone what does that say about you - does it say that maybe you don’t like yourself? If you don’t like yourself, how do you ever persuade anyone else that your likeable? Yeah being sexy helps, but once the lust wears off what is left is that’s all your relationship is built upon. Why not take a little time and learn to enjoy being yourself and being around yourself?

So, according to ars technica and Slashdot there is some proposed legislation in New Jersey called the Internet Dating Safety Act. And I agree with them. Yeah, it is a good idea to work on getting online dating safer. But, this one really doesn’t do anything right. There are better ways. I’m kind of dumb, so I can’t suggest anything creative or constructive. All I’ll do here is bash the proposed law.

And I don’t live in New Jersey!

So, The Insider ran a story this evening about mail order brides. How that they could be subjected to being abused or treated poorly. Essentially they are East European girls who dream of a better life in America. Sure, some are gold diggers, I’d guess, and sure, some of the American guys just want to take advantage. But, I’d imagine that some are also genuine on both parts. I’m not here to pass judgement. If it works, that’s good.

But, one part of the program caught my attention, the “agency” that puts these people together and makes the matches! They can cost up to $9,000 just to be a member! Wow, this industry must seriously have some spendable money!

As I understand it, you have to write one of these each time you create a blog. So, here goes. I already had a blog, but just decided to move it onto my own website and host it myself and use WordPress, etc. So, experimenting away!
