Can we be made to feel any worse?

Interesting news story that I found this week. Not wanting to hurt feelings unnecessarily, I’m going to go ahead and say the truth about what I think. This is the story here — about Manuel Uribe, of Mexico City, who once weighed 1,235 pounds, and has recently lost 440 pounds (still weighs 800) was going out on a date, on his bed and accidents happened and he was unable to make it. Now, I think it is great that this man has overcome so much. That he knew he was overweight, that he kept that positive attitude that he could accomplish what he wanted to. Sought help, is loosing weight, has doctors and friends around him to support him and all. I think it is great. I’d like to see him succeed.

I read the story, I thought it sad that he couldn’t make his celebratory date with his girlfriend, and it made me happy that he is working towards his goals.

However…. afterwards things about it began to bother me. Read the rest of this entry »
