Perfect Match
PerfectMatch.com
has something going for it that none of the other online dating sites
have: Diane
Lane! I'm sure that if you were anywhere near the movie theaters over
the summer of 2005 then you saw Diane, some dogs, and yes, John Cusak
in the movie Must Love Dogs.
First - how Diane could not have
a date (that's beyond me!) and second, how when she must have been
turning down guys wholesale she couldn't stand up to the pressure from
her family to start dating online! No I did not see the movie, but
PerfectMatch.com
is
the online dating service they were using in the movie.
The second thing going for PerfectMatch
is
their Duet™ system.
This little system is developed by Dr. Pepper Schwartz, someone who
has dedicated her life to the study of love and relationships. It is
a process you go through on their site, it makes you think and takes
a little time to go through. This little exercise is a personality
type test and it is somewhat based on the famous Myers-Briggs personality
tests. But the similarities stop there because the Myers-Briggs tests
are how your personality impacts business & life, the Duet system
specifically addresses how your personality deal with romantic situations.
I
recommend that you click on the PerfectMatch
link
and fill this survey out - even if you are not intending to use PerfectMatch
!
Because you can view the free test results on what your personality
is really like - and
that is always eye-opening.
PerfectMatch
also
has a whole long list of Ph.D.'s endorsing it, if that matters to you.
You can join PerfectMatch.com
for
free, and you can take the Duet™ personality test for free. Whenever
you log into PerfectMatch
you
will find the others that they feel you'd be a good match with, based
on your personality. But, you can also search through the online profiles
yourself and look at their personality types.
One neat thing about your profile is that you have a page full of
"deal breakers" that you complete. What your match must have
or can't have. Choosing 3-5 of the little boxes and then choose
a few preferences.
After you've gone through and set-up your profile you'll find a wealth
of insightful information about yourself and relationships. You'll
find Dr. Pepper Schwartz's column, you'll see her question and answer
section (she gives damn good advice) and you'll also find a lot
of other cool stuff, such as the Lifetime television section! The Lifetime
section has a great set of little quizzes you can take for free. Take
your time and read them, though, because when I tested one out (am
I datable) and scored a 2(!) I freaked.
Until I read the scoring system. My poor little ticker! The quiz just
doesn't give you a score, it diagnoses
all the answers if you want to delve that deeply.
What I'd say is the most important reason for signing up for PerfectMatch
is
that if you are really serious about finding love online, the only other
people you find on PerfectMatch
are
those that'd take the time to fill out their profile and take the personality
test -- so the quality of potential matches are much higher than some
of the other sites.
